THE REBELLION SUPPORT COLLECTIVE
IS HAVING A FUN-RAISER FILMSCREENING!!
OSCAR
The multiple award-winning film by director Sergio Morkin

Oscar is a taxi driver and “ad-buster” in Buenos Aires. Feeling invaded
by commercial advertising, he decides to get his own back. Whenever he
has no clients or during family trips Oscar gets out of his car and
transforms billboards with his own collages and drawings. There are
more than 800 of his creations - ironic and provocative in nature
throughout the city.

Description:

A truly breathtaking documentary, filmed during the factory takeovers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Take centers around one auto-parts factory, and the lives and struggles of the 30 unemployed workers who decide to reoccupy, collectivize, and get it going again. Unsurprisingly, with this template, the film also covers the effects of globalisation.
This film is by Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis - the celebrity activists who are the darlings of the corporate media but not always of the movement they 'represent'. THE TAKE raises a lot of questions about the politics of workers control, as well as questions about the politcs of the filmamakers themselves. Come along to see the film and be part of a critical discussion afterwards.
Food and drink available. $5 Donation or less for unwaged etc.

Description:

July 2006 marks the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
At the same time as defending themselves against the facists, the anarchists
in the east of Spain undertook one of the broadest and most successful
processes of anarchist revolution the world has ever seen. The workers and
peasants collectivised land and industry and set up local councils to organise
life democratically. The success of these agrarian collectives survives in the
minds of anarchists today as an example of how anarchist society can flourish
- even in the most adverse conditions. We will be showing archival footage
