Film night: "The Take"

8 Jul 2006 - 18:00
8 Jul 2006 - 20:00
Location:

440 Parramatta Rd., Petersham

Description:

A truly breathtaking documentary, filmed during the factory takeovers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Take centers around one auto-parts factory, and the lives and struggles of the 30 unemployed workers who decide to reoccupy, collectivize, and get it going again. Unsurprisingly, with this template, the film also covers the effects of globalisation. This film is by Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis - the celebrity activists who are the darlings of the corporate media but not always of the movement they 'represent'. THE TAKE raises a lot of questions about the politics of workers control, as well as questions about the politcs of the filmamakers themselves. Come along to see the film and be part of a critical discussion afterwards.
Food and drink available. $5 Donation or less for unwaged etc.
