Etiquette for Jura discussion forums

Hi everyone,

Could we develop a loose guide to etiquette for using the web forums? Something similar to the already existant guide to email lists perhaps. For example, I propose the following:

"Etiquette for web discussion forums:
* Try to only make only one post on a particular topic per week (this gives time for other people to read it, and respond, and avoids the dominance of a few people). This doesn't mean people can't make several posts per week, just not several posts on the same topic in the one week.
* Try to keep your writing succinct and well structured. No one enjoys reading long rambling rants. Plan and edit your response - don't just write as if you were talking on the phone.
* Try to keep the tone friendly. When things are written down they often sound more serious than they are intended to be. We're all comrades, so let's try to build community, not destroy relationships. Avoid personal attacks, and keep your comments constructive.
* Enjoy!"

What do people think?

Just one post per week

I would drop the "make only one post per week" line. Forums will not bog your mailbox, and this would make discussions rather slow. We could revise that if things went out of hand. Which I really doubt. Email is much more dynamic than forums, from my personal experience.

The big rule

The big forum rule (for me) is to put your post in the appropriate forum topic, and if there isn't one, to create an appropriate forum topic that has a relevant heading so that people can find your comments.

I also agree that limiting to one post a week is a bit ambitious, and unneccessary. I can try to not dominate - but I will post regularly in the beginning if I can be of technical assistance. ;)
