Rally for Abortion Rights

Sunday, October 10, 2010 - 10:30am

When a young woman and her partner face going to jail for an abortion— it’s time to act! Rally at 12pm, 9 October, Town Hall!

A young Queensland couple goes to trial on October 12, charged under archaic abortion laws that should not exist - abortion is not a crime.

The charges relate to the use of RU486, an abortion drug, which they obtained from relatives overseas. RU486 is considered a safe, legal treatment in Australia.

However, distribution of RU486 remains tightly controlled by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Rally for Abortion Rights

Saturday, May 29, 2010 -
9:00pm to 11:00pm

Time to get active!

It's been more than 10 years since we've had a rally for abortion rights in NSW, but now is the time as abortion rights are under attack both in Australia and overseas.

About Jura

At Jura Books, we are working to create a radically different world: one based on freedom, equality and justice for everyone, as well as environmental sustainability for all life on the planet. We believe this can only be achieved by an organised and politically conscious social movement, based on participatory democracy and workers control. Our collective aims to help to build this movement. We seek to bring the ideas of anarchism to ever-widening circles of people.

Hi Jura friends,

It's time to turn up the heat on the coal industry, and their friends in government. The export coal industry is Australia's single biggest, and fastest growing contribution to the global climate crisis. Newcastle is already the world's biggest coal port, and is set to open a massive new coal terminal to triple current export capacity. This means tripling coal mining, razing bushland and ripping apart communities for more mines. The profits will be exported, but the devastation will be felt here and around the world.

This madness has to stop. The climate crisis is deepening, and time is fast running out. Politicians are failing to take action against the rampant coal companies, so we have to do it ourselves...

Join Jura people this Sunday and hundreds of others in a peaceful occupation Newcastle Harbour,
and prevent the passage of coal ships. There'll be extra boats and plenty happening on the shore too, so come along and show your support!
